BMW 3 & 4 Series F30 / F31 / F32 / F33 / F34 / F36 Android Radio – Which Unit Fits?

This page covers the BMW 3 Series F30 (saloon), F31 (Touring), F34 (Gran Turismo), the 4 Series F32 (coupé), F33 (convertible) and F36 (Gran Coupé), plus the M3 F80 and M4 F82, built from 2012 to 2019. Erisin’s units for these cars replace the factory screen with a larger Android 16 display while keeping the original iDrive system.

Which iDrive system does your F30 have?

  • CIC – early cars, about 2012 to mid-2013. The iDrive controller has no touch pad.
  • NBT – about mid-2013 to mid-2016. The controller has a touch pad on top; the main menu is a list.
  • NBT EVO – about mid-2016 to 2019. Touch-pad controller, and the main menu shows large live tiles.

Most units on this page are made for NBT. If your car has CIC or NBT EVO, send us a photo first so we can confirm the right unit and cable.

Left-hand or right-hand drive

The F30 dashboard differs between left- and right-hand-drive cars, so units come as …NL (left-hand drive) and …NR (right-hand drive), for example ES4730NL and ES4730NR. UK, Irish and Australian cars need the NR version.

What you keep after the upgrade

The screen-upgrade units connect to the original BMW plugs (plug and play, no cutting). In most cars you keep the original iDrive controller (it also controls Android), the steering-wheel buttons, the original BMW radio and speakers including Harman Kardon / Logic 7 sound, the factory reversing camera and the parking-sensor display. You can switch back to the original BMW screen at any time. The exact list for each unit is on its product page.

Does wireless CarPlay replace my BMW navigation? No, you keep the BMW system and add Android with wireless CarPlay and Android Auto; switch between them with a button.

Will my iDrive controller work? Yes, the original controller and its touch pad work with the new screen.
